sculptural tensegrity lamp strikes a balance between compression and tension

Piet Hein Hoeksma strikes a harmonious balance between structure, sculpture, and light with his most recent luminous creation, Tensegrity Lamp.

Without any concessions to technique nor design, the lamp’s LED bars, ash wood struts, and delicate steel cables work mutually in a constant equilibrium between compression and tension.
Achieving this form through an inherent and modular structural logical that defines the tensegrity model in its purest from, the lamp exude a warm glow of light and enhances the space with a modern yet timeless design.
The fixture’s ash wood struts, made of ash wood are capped with 3D printed PLA heads onto which the tension cables are fixed.

Due to a unique tensioning system these can be prestressed, and the lamp can be disassembled and packed as small as the struts.
An array of cob LED light armatures fit in any spot within the double tension circuit, appearing as an extra layer of struts.
