Amy Schumer Reportedly Buys Moonstruck Townhouse for $12.25 Million

Amy Schumer is reportedly the buyer of the Brooklyn townhouse that served as a backdrop for Cher and Nicolas Cage’s characters in the 1987 film Moonstruck, according to the New York Post. The 1829-built Federal style structure, located in Brooklyn Heights Historic District, was purchased through a trust for $12.25 million, at $1.25 million more than the asking price.

In May, the comedian and actress listed her luxe Upper West Side pad and hinted to the Wall Street Journal that she and her husband, chef Chris Fischer, would be relocating their family to Brooklyn to be closer to their three-year-old son’s school. Schumer told the Wall Street Journal that her previous abode was her “Manhattan dream apartment” and said that its purchase was “a big deal for me. It felt like such a palace.”

If the Life & Beth star is indeed the new owner of the Moonstruck house, however, it is by no means a downgrade. Spanning four floors and 5,568 square feet, the five-bed, four-bath property, which includes gated parking and a private garden terrace, has been extensively renovated to restore historic details, including complete restoration of the Mansard roof, hand-carved trim, crown molding, and marble fireplaces. Modern touches were also added during the renovations, such as an excavated gym and wine cellar in the basement and completely redone bathrooms featuring a mix of new and antique fixtures. Thirty windows invite an abundance of natural light throughout the space.

Inside, the stunning eat-in kitchen boasts antique cabinetry, exposed beams, a wood-burning oven, and a custom black eight-burner, three-oven Lacanche range with gold fixtures. Stately black marble fireplace mantles are the focal points in the north and south parlors. On the garden level, a cozy-looking library lined with built-in bookshelves and a wood-burning stove is found.
